Look what I've found:

Bought 4 of their roughly 2cm diameter magnetic hooks on sunday, in Spittalfields Market London, to try with my Motorhome Classic awning. No awning rails and we use roof bars so it's always a bit of a bodge with mini bungees. But..

Going to try these for attaching the tunnel to the roof of the van next time we camp. They're incredibly strong and seem like good value for money.

He also does really nice bracelets too!

Watch your paintwork with the magnets they always seam to pick up on the base and whan they move around they can scratch the paint, I use bungie rope and 3 " suction pads. that go over the van seams to work great been in some really heavy weather and never had problems.Cheers Dai
Hi Dai,

Also tried suction hooks but they blew off in high winds. Plan to cover the magnets with perhaps thin rubber inner tubes to add paintwork protection and a bit of extra friction. I'll report back when I've had a chance to test.
And yes, we use bungees too - the mini ones from Decathlon sports camping dept are brilliant.
