Been finding out that not all insurance companies do cover for 8 seater vehicles. "They don't do vans!" Yes i've tried to explain it's not a van - it's a bus! And secondly it's a factory fitted standard Caravelle interior. They won't listen! :(

Anyway, just wondered if there were any recommended insurers out there who provide cover for 8 seaters and who are Veedub bus friendly?

Any pointers, recommendations greatly received T:

Have you tried General Accident?
They covered my 7 seat Caravelle and were nearly £200 cheaper than any of the specialists on here… T:

Cheers gents. Will follow up accordingly. I have previously used Brentacre, who are actually a broker. Their customer service team are really good. Unfortunately the insurer I got were absolute pants!

thanks again

Iv used Adrian Flux for years but then when I came to insure the caravelle. The best they could offer was 3rd party only for £1300. Bit odd considering the website quotes "we insure anything from everyday work hack to a modified LWB caravelle" Well they couldn't offer me a good deal on my modified LWB caravelle!

Hi,

I'm surprised we were unable to help & I'd like to take a look at the quote if you could PM me your details?

Kind regards,

Dan.

Well a warning for all 1st central policy holders....

The missus just tried changing part of our policy on our 97 velle, had them on the phone and now 6 months into the policy they tell us tht they don't insure vans, even after changing the policy twice in the past over the phone!!!

We've demanded a full refund as thats ridiculous - potentially we've been driving for 6 months insured - already paid out 400 quid to date!

Reported them to trading standards - VW owners avoid!

The bus is my secondary vehicle, used mainly in the summer months with all the family in for our hobby. so I have Jap eurobox for normal day - day motoring insured with LV, with 75% no claims, LV gave me the 75% no-claims on the bus as well.

Genuine Caravelle alway's previously insured as a people carrier for about £250, untill this year! When we went to insure in October, even our existing company refused to ensure us as it was not recognised, had the same issue with most companies we rang?
It would seem all insurers must work off of some common database for recognising the basic criteria & I guess it's been updated excluding the Caravelle. Unfortunately we live in an age where nobody in the motor insurance industry had any remote interest in motors or basic knowledge, just graduates gap filling, relying on what the computor lets them do.

Got insured eventually but at cost of £400!

I just hope the missing box gets re-included next time so we don't pay over the odds again this year.
