Good evening all,

Ive had my T5 for 6 months and it has starting problems and a serious white smoke problem. It take about 10-15 seconds to start from cold and splutter starts. It always starts eventually! The white smoking has got worse and worse to the point I would hand my head in shame and the taffic lights. Ive spent £2k on it, new this, new that and the vw specilist really doesnt know what rlse he can do to fix it. The last thing he said he can do is to change all the injector seals. Im sorry I cant be more specific about what has been done, but pretty much everything according to my local mechanic.
Its just failed its MOT due to excessive smoke and be has tried everthing to get it through but he has had no luck.

Any advice?

Also, can anyone in Kent/South East offer me a price on the work.

Thanks guys! :*

Interesting - one of the local specialists (to us) failed, after a number of attempts to diagnose why my 2.5/130/5-pot had excess oil in the intercooler/pipes & oil all over the engine as well as excessive oil consumption. Starting was poor too.
Robbie at Tamworth Auto Services diagnosed a shot turbo (which had been fitted 18months ago by the local specialist) & a "lazy" starter motor - took Robbie less than an hour.
Result was new hybrid (not recon turbo), new Darkside exhaust manifold, full service, remap & 220bhp & a reasonable bill.
Long way to go yes, but I often work all round the UK.
PM me if you want more info.

Thanks for your input Brian and offer. Do you think that it would need the 5 new injector seals changed? The excessive white smoke and poor starting would indicate injector seals?

Hi

I have just managed to fix my starting problems, see here http://www.vwt4forum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=867529, it was predominantly the injectors need a refurbish but I found a couple of other issues whilst the cam cover was off.

Have you had the van on VCDS? if so what were the injector deviation values as mine were reading from -3.01 through to +2.99, everything was maxed out which points to the injectors.

is the white smoke constant? does it smell of diesel? If not then is your coolant level OK?

Cheers

Was there a lot of mileage on your old injectors to get them deviation values?

Mileage was 114000! If you look in the Haynes manual they say to look to get the injectors done around 60,000!!!!
