Hi guys,

Really hope you can help me out clarifying a few things/any pointers before we have to sell our beloved VWT4 van :blg I live in E11 London (so part of the LEZ) and recently received a £250 fine through the door for not paying the required daily £100 LEZ charge for my vehicle.

My friend has the exact same VWT4 1999 diesel van as me, but his is classed as a MPV with the DVLA as it has the additional 2 seats in the back (the rock n roll bed, which mine also has)

This is my van layout:

Now as i/we understand it, because his van is classed as a MPV in the V5 logbook, that's the reason it's exempt from the LEZ charges (but please correct me if i'm wrong!)

Here are the messages he gets when he puts in his reg:

<a href="https://ibb.co/p3jXFH3"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/19G2WC9/van3.jpg" alt="van3" border="0"></a>

but when i put my reg in i am requested to pay £100 as opposed to £12.50.

I called the DVLA and they advised my van is classed as a 'panel van' and if i needed to confirm there are seats in the back then i need to fill out section 7 of the V5, sign and date section 8, and add a covering letter explaining why i am/have made the changes, with pics of the vehicle and send to an address she gave me.. This then I 'presume' would change the class of the vehicle to a MPV, and therefore it would become exempt from the LEZ daily £100 charge... but then again i'm so confused by the whole thing i have no idea :-(

Here are my van details:

I dont wish to ever drive the van through london.. just out onto the M25 and then to the coast/France or whatever. It's killing me having to part with her, so if anyone has any info on ways i can go about keeping her i would be eternally grateful!

Many thanks in advance
