help please a couple of months ago my starter was making a really horrible noise so i bought a new starter and everything was fine, now this starter is doing the same it can't be the starter again so wat is it?
Does your started gear have a shaft sticking out from it?
There are 2 types the ones with the shaft sticking out have a bush in the bell housing to support it later(i think ) ones are self supporting and do not need the bush
If yours needs the bush and its worn away then the shaft is unsupported and will cause premature failure
Hope that helps
You probably have a worn ring gear on the flywheel if the teeth are worn it puts excessive pressure on the starter bearing and wears the teeth of the starter. You need to pull the starter out and inspect it and the flywheel for wear. Teeth on the ring gear should be at the same level as the machined face. If you are not sure get somone who knows what they are doing to look at it before you risk damaging another starter.
