Hiya all,

I think my van is haunted..

I wanted to upgrade the standard yellowish DRL bulds for some nice white LED replacements.
A quick eBay search and £14 later I'm fitting my shiny new lights.

So I put the first one in (offside) and turned the ignition on to test it... Worked fine, look great, very pleased....
So I put the second one in and to my disappointment it did work.
I put the original build back in to test I hadn't popped a fuse or something stupid, it worked fine.
So the new LED bulb must be duff..

Just before I packed it up and sent it back to eBay I put it in the offside and it worked in there.. So both LED bulbs are fine. But it will only light one at a time.

So,
Both the old bulbs still work,
Both the new LEDs work (individually)
An LED and an original bulb will work but not two LEDs.

Is this some load limitation? I thought LEDs would have less load than the originals?

Has anybody seem this before? Am I just being dim and missing something?

Worked out the problem..

So just in case anyone else has the same problem...

Polarity...!!!

The van was brand new so you expect everything to work.. (and it did) but the 'normal' DRL bulbs don't mind what polarity they are, and VW just connected it any old how.

I took the two spade clips of the bulb holder, swapped em.. put the new LED in. and all was well.

Taa Daa
