Thought I'd give this a 2nd try in General as I got zero in Electrical......

While motorway driving at night last weekend I've noticed I have a couple of extra dashboard symbols are faintly lit up - but only when I start cruise control. I only noticed because it showed up in the dark, but I confirmed this week in daylight it is also happening without the night mode lights on. Weirdly it is the Traction Control and the Right Hand Indicator triangle that are faintly on. Also, if I indicate left, the traction control flashes in time with the indicator. Everything still actually works fine and driving is not affected. It seems to be something to do with that left hand stalk, like some kind of 'leaky' switch or bad earth?

Has anyone ever had anything like this? Is this symptoms of some bigger problem? And if I take to dealer, will this show up on computer diagnostics since I don't think it's a fault with any function?

Thanks, CoB

I'm pretty sure I've seen it reported here before, but quite a long time back and I can't recall the details.

It's apparently quite a common problem on Peugeot Boxers, though. When it gets worse it's often an MOT fail because there should be no warning lights displayed on the dash - there is no allowance made in the test, even if the warning lights don't actually indicate the fault that they are there for!

I've done my best to try searching for anything on previous threads that resembles this , but didn't find anything that really covered it.

Nope, No wiring mods at all by me. It's a Bilbo conversion though, from new in 2013, so they must have done stuff, although nothing really on the dashboard or column stalks.

Wiring splice? I have no idea, I'll search a bit on that to see if anything comes up.

Thanks for the comments so far, keep em coming if there's any more ideas or suggestions. I've booked into dealers next week, figured I should get it sorted before it gets any worse.

Get it checked by a technician, don't book it in, cost to much. Call in and ask someone to do a fast check at lunchtime, bring £20 T:

Nope, No tow bar fitted.

Tried a couple of independants today to get a diagnostic, but they're busy till Wednesday!!

Took a slight change in behaviour today, which is now really starting to worry me. First thing, it was again exactly as above. But in supermarket car park, when about to come home, I got this...

After starting the engine, once all the usual symbols have cleared, the Traction control, and fuel tank warning light were both on but still only faintly, and took a while for both to clear. They normally would all go out pretty much same time. I have over half tank full and not had the fuel warning doing this before.

The left indicator has now seemed to stop making traction control flash in time.

Could this be battery and/or alternator? Like not giving enough oomph? Although turnover at ignition is normal. I've always kept outside, and even in cold snap today, it started fine.

But like I said, starting to get concerned that this is something bigger. Maybe the ABS system as I've read in other threads...?

Did anyone get back to you on this? I’ve just bought a t5.1 and have the same issue. Plenty of chat about it but no real solutions so far. Any help gratefully received!!

Process of elimination: change the suspected culprit left stalk.

So after a bit of searching around and talking to the companies offering the repairs it seems the issue is a power spike blowing the board it led bulbs on the dash. Jump starting is a common cause....... only had the van a month or so but the previous owner did admit to running the battery flat whilst away one time so I’m guessing that was the initial cause.
In most cases it’s repairable if not and worse case then it’s a new dash. I found a bag specialist in Sheffield (not too far from me) who were able to repair it this afternoon. After replacing all the led bulbs and a couple of parts it’s as good as new.
Saved me sending it off down south and being off the road for a week or so. 🤙
