hello ive just joined up , could do with some advice on what t4 to get :*want to get a van to do up an turn into a surf bus on bit of a budjet what is the best engine 1.9 or 2.4 are the early vans worth doing ? any tips will be appreciated as am a t4 virgin I: my other hobby is old skool fords ive re built my mk2 rs mexico & have a mk1 2 door to restore too

Go and test drive a few different ones. Check out the insurance differences and cost for Taxing (there seems ot be loads of variation in how much tax each van attacts)
I only ever had 2.5tdi and loved it.

I agree with that, my 1,9td runs fantastically. Would I be correct in thinking Insurance is cheaper too ?

I got my first T4 a few weeks ago, she is only a 1.9d, therefore she is slow, but i love her to bits, is lovely to drive and i eventually catch the car in front! *<>

thanks guys T: think ill go and look at a couple and see what they are like. im not spending a lot , i want to pick up a scabby one and do up as i can afford a mate of mine got a l reg one that was rough around the edges cheap andit looks the dogs danglies now in red , colour coded lowered etc . want to do it as my car is allways full of tools etc and also got a dog ,+the missus is expecting too so my 3 door 306 d turbo isnt the most practical . she`s got her bm which is fine for her but i fancy a van that i can turn into a bit of a camper later on to go off for ehe odd weekend now & again :ILU: so it will be in the £1000 to 1800 sort of price i reckon ideally p or r reg if i can find one

what are the 5 cylinder petrol ones like may have found a lpg converted one are they any good?

i've got a 51reg 2.0l petrol converted to lpg, and love it! it might not be the quickest, but can get about 180miles on £25 gas.... which i dont think is too bad!! and it's only a little slower when running on lpg than petrol. hope this helps!T:

Welcome.
A friend of mine is looking to sell his 1.9 on a "T" reg. It's a SWB in white which could do with a weekends tidying. Scabs on the sills etc but nothing that has gone through. It has side fixed windows, a tailgate and two captains chairs fitted. It could be made to look great in a weekend. It's lowered and running on 18" alloys. I don't reckon you are far off on the top end of your budget and a lot of the work is done on the van.
