wheel bolts not nuts I:

steel wheel bolts have tapering/conical shoulders, whilst alloy wheels might have hemispherical or flat

you obviously need the right ones to get the correct tension

if you're going from steels to alloys consider keeping the steels for winter use, or if disposing of them keep a set of bolts in case you have to use your steel spare wheel in future

If the Golf alloys are genuine VW then you need M14X1.5 radius wheel bolts that have 35mm of thread.

If they are non-genuine they will more than likely need tapered wheel bolts but just by looking at the bolt hole it will be obvious.

Your original wheel bolts, even though they are radius, are only suitable to be used on T4 steels and genuine T4 alloys as they have a much larger radius seat.

But before fitting the alloys are they actually load rated to be used on a T4?
