Hi

I have a 2004 T5 1.9 T30 and it drinks about a litre of coolant/ water every 2 to 3 weeks.

It also is not great on starting up if the engine is cold, and billows white smoke.

Once the engine has warmed up it starts fine and there is no white smoke.

Any ideas what the problem could be?

Thanks!

Well, it could be that the white smoke is moisture, possible from water from the cooling system getting into combustion chambers somehow. Head gasket?

white smoke = moisture
blue smoke = oil
black smoke = unburnt fuel

Generally anyhow.
