Last year by myself and my girlfriend moved to Kent and prior to that we were living in North Wales for seven years.

We moved down for family reasons but will only be here for a temporary stay! T:

What has struck me since buying my T4 in August last year is that there seem to be so few T4's on the roads around here and even fewer that are owned by enthusiasts?

Is Kent just a bit of an oddity? We went down to Dorset a few weeks back for a holiday and saw loads of T4's with people "living the dream". Also my girlfriends brother went on holiday with his family last week to Cornwall and he came back saying he had seen hundreds of T4's.

I honestly see more people driving around in £50K Range Rover Sports (vulgar barstewards) here in North Kent than in T4's???

Maybe North Kent is just full of gangsters and Pikeys? I:

Another knock-on effect of there not being many T4's in North Kent is that there don't seem to be any specialists that specialise in these vans and have a passion for them. I take my van to a VW/Audi specialist but the owner just sees my van as an old van not worth spending money on.

Is there a decent local forum group for Kent? Just want to find like minded T4 enthusiasts :(

Posh parts of Kent probably aren't quite the place to look for T4s, like you say Devon and Cornwall far more likely - snooty parts of Kent are full of bankers and high flying wealthy people who would probably not want to be seen in tatty old T4s and would only buy brand new Caravelle Exec models if they had to slum it to the airport with a load of passengers. :) Welcome to the social divide A: I'm sure you will find a like-mided few T4 enthusiasts though

Think you need To go back to school for your spelling Rasp: but is Kent one of the larger counties so I suppose there would be less as there is more room. Lots of through traffic for the ports and the train so should see a few. I am always up and down the M-ways and can count on 1 hand the waves I have had but they are out there :)

Just come back from Wales & saw loads of T4,s, some waved, others didn't but hey ho, their loss:). I'm back in Essex & I've only passed a couple of T4's in as many days.

The conclusion I can draw from this thread is that I must live in a posh area as well!! Wait till I tell the pikey's down the road in Tilbury that we're all posh now. Maybe they'll all take up merchant banking, Hedge Fund Management and interior designing as alternative careers to thieving anything that's not bolted down. This will no doubt be followed by drastic lifestyle changes, such as training their scabby horses to world class polo standards & sending their daughters to Swiss finishing schools.

Make the most of skiing in Klosters while you can, now we're all posh the Alps will soon be covered in "Merchant Bankers" in Transits re-laying the mountainside in sub-standard tarmac and organising bare knuckles bouts in the bars, leaving many an unpaid bill in their wake.

POSH. MY A45E !!!

I have to say that in NO WAY is North Kent POSH..at least the area I am currently living in which is a village called Longfield about five miles from Dartford. My definition of posh would be an 'old money' area, where at least people have some taste. Winchester in Hampshire is posh; Bath is posh; West Surrey and most of East Sussex is POSH.

North Kent is full of Pikeys and indeed lots of overspill from the East End of London. There are lots of people around here with ALOT of money but very little taste, hence the vast number of Range Rover Sports to be seen clogging up the roads around here.

I work a s a landscaper and garden designer and I refuse on principle to take on a client if they have a Range Rover Sport parked in the Driveway! :D

Other parts of Kent such as around Tunbridge Wells are definitely more old school posh, but North Kent is mainly ruined.

I think T4's are now old enough to be seen as an enthusiasts vehicles in the main (old builders vans still working hard not withstanding!). They also represent a certain ideal. They follow on from the classic VW campers of the 60's 70's and 80's and offer a chance to "live the dream" and escape to wild places..."home is where you park" and all that!

Hence the vast number of them in the West Country.

I think years of living in a sleepy backwater such as North Wales where life is lived at a gentler pace has made me realise that the only thing going for the south east is the better climate!!

Glad to have the T4 so I can escape as often as possible!
