my neighbour just had some of those rather nice audi style headlights. He wanted to know if he could have the sidelights on whilst driving in the daytime without having to switch em on and without the tail lights coming on. But he wanted them to function normally for night time driving, ie tail lights illuminating.....

a minor mod requiring an in line fuse, 2 diodes and some wire......



the diodes will prevent the ignition live from backfeeding into the loom and illuminating the rear tail lights. You will need to identify the sidelight wire on the headlight.

fixed that issue......

i put two additional diodes in the circuit. This will keep the sidelights independant of each other, especially when tthe engine is off and the side/park lights are switched on.T:



ive heard that there is a wiring kit available that does the same job as this. Apparently it costs about £30. I think four diodes will cost about £2.I:
