Gunmetal evolves into 2014 Olympic Blue T5.1 LWB

Heres the start of my build thread for my 2nd build
it a 2011 LWB 140bhp with A/C 47k on the clock and a full history
Ive ordered a Reimo roof which won't be here till 13/14 October so for now not a lot to do
in the meantime theres a couple if pics inc one of 2 USB ports i just fitted in the dash for ipad iPod sat nav etc

struggling to do a great deal till the roof arrives so will post some more in a couple of Weeks :)

it took some careful measuring and drilling/filing
the outer rubber surround of the female USB sockets was trimmed as required also the with blank was trimmed from behind
leaving as much plastic as possible for the largest contact area then the two parts were superglued together

the blanking panels are much better on the T5.1 as they are a positive clipped fit in the dash
where the one on my last T5 would pull out of the dash overtime I unplugged anything from them
Ill pop one out and post a picture from the rear later today

Bit the bullet this morning and set about cutting the roof of a perfectly good van
its a little worrying when you turn a 20K van into scrap for a few hours
and for a while are the owner of the largest sunroof ever !!

Been busy this week getting things ready for the paintshop
Havnt been able to get the tent finished as work and weather have been getting in the way
so whilst the weather has been bad Ive made a start on the rear bumper and front bumper trims
They have all been sanded ,plastic primed and 2k high build before a final sand and a trip to the paintshop next week
front bumper is being changed for a caravelle bumper and I have new mirror covers ready for colour coding

Cordless drill and a Bosch Jigsaw but not a little DIY one though

and todays tasks involved more holes and a couple more jigsaw blades
2 more windows to cut out then of to the Paintshop

vans away to the paint shop and won't be back for around 10 days as the guys are really busy
so got a little time to starts planning the interior and wiring layout

Another day on the van today
back bumper fitted with a set of parking sensors
sound deadening to both sides of the van
original bulkhead mountings removed
Its surprising how much crud gets under the floor panels in the back
Off to see Matt at Vagnostics tomorrow for cruise to be fitted A:

Not had chance to post any new pics for a while as I've been a little busy
finally got round to sorting out seat mountings for the electric Recaros
and mounting the consumer unit under the drivers seat along with the mains battery charger.
Battery and split charger are under the passenger seat
mains connector socket is going to be under the bonnet for hook up when on campsites

once Im happy it all fits OK and the wiring is routed safely the seat bases will be coming out for painting

finally got the Leather Recaros in with all the charger battery et under the seats

and got the plywood floor fitted but not finished
it will have to come out for water tank mountings and bed mountings

been for a retail therapy session today for fridge sink grill gas reg and valves and water pump
going to collect the driftwood ply for the furniture in the morning
then Im going to lock myself in the garage for a couple of weeks A:A:A:
