A good weekend , just like to share after months of work to the van
S3 bam engine and 6 speed gearbox 02m is in and running sweet T:
A couple of little things to finish off , but first road test was good
Pics to follow if interested

It's running standard s3 ecu and a made up wiring loom from the audi and van
So it's a true 225 BHP,
Wanted to see how things run if all is well over the summer may remove engine and get it forged and go for more BHP in the winter,
But for now I'm happy with the results

ahhh very nice!!

Im going to embark on the same project but with an R32 gearbox, which means the engine will sit at its stupid angle and i can still use the transfer box for the rear diff :)

what drive shafts did you use?

and gearshift system, hopefully you used the cable shift for a much nicer/smoother change :)

Hello tonic been following your build , nice T:
Drive shafts are believe or not is made up using audi and t4 bits the cv joints swap over ,
Gearshift is a cable set up , this is the only thing I'm not really happy with , and want to improve , this is one part I thought wouldn't give any issues its like you solve one problem which in turn gives you another , if you know what I'm on about ,
The van has been in the corner of the workshop since Christmas and worked on when I get the time so now I want to use it and maybe do a bit more over the winter,

thats interesting about the drive shafts! is the drivers side one still a 2 piece affair? I'm imagining it is due to the distance.

As for the cable change how have you mounted it? my plan is to mount it off the floor and take the cables through the bulkhead then right on top of the box. have you looked at a short shift kit for it? they make a massive difference on the o2m gearboxes.

Drivers side driveshaft is as it would be in the audi , just one shaft from gearbox ,
Gearshift is mounted under the floor just room above the fuel tank and fitted well so cables don't need to go through bulk head, and the standard gear lever cover is used, it has a short shift fitted, and a mod done to the gear lever , I just feel that I could improve on the way that it is , most of this is due to the length of the gear change lever needed,

Looking good :) Glad its not just me, I've been working on my van for 3 months and thats without custom driveshafts!

Interesting idea to use the 02M, I'd be a bit worried about the driveshaft angles, suspension travel, etc, but it gets away from the horrible van gearbox and the limited ratios. I'm liking the idea of using an adaptor plate!

Like the idea of the plate , but I think you won't know how this would work out till it's tried.
I found that the lower the engine and gearbox was the better the driveshafts worked
If the engine was kept as is and the gearbox was spun round it would move the position of the driveshafts forward and we all know there isn't at lot of room around there,
