What every owner wants to see.....a new Test Certificate!
Yep Dinsdale went in for his 2 year TÜV test last week and passed!

OK, there was some preparation work required; new section welded in on the passenger side (Its a left hooker) rear wheel arch (Rust), drivers side new suspension joint, new wheel bearings on the front. With all the test fees and other bits and bobs it has set me back a 1000 euros! Looks a lot when you write it down but as it is a 2 year test then 500 per year is acceptable.
My mechanic has now given me a list of jobs to attend to over the next 2 years to keep the costs down for next time in 2027, pretty much all related to anti corrosion. Nothing dire, just stopping it now. The original factory protetctive coating is breaking down and there is a need to replace it...as time goes by.
I've got new plastic wheel arches to fit and the bumpers
front and rear will need to come off for some anti rust work.

Never ending story eh?

UK people don't understand just how strict the EU Kontrol is.
Only ever other year, but they pick on things that MOT doesn't bother about.
LED bulbs "too blue" (sidelights and number plate lights).
The "marine horns" on your roof "are too loud" (even though I had normal horn too....IF that had been the only one, it would have passed!?!?)
Can't have that Momo steering wheel cover...it may slip when you have to do the Moose test for steering!
Your tyres are now 6 years old..MUST be replaced before next Kontrol....
etc, etc.

Agreed. Those points are pretty pedantic. As mine is now a WoMo you end taking some stuff out which would otherwise cause a fail. The van is noted as 3 seater, so I have to put the front bank back in and Captain seat out, remove the slave battery and so on,just in case.

It is a strenuous test here for sure. For the 'abgas' test they rev the motor for several seconds through the roof to get 'their' optimal readings. If your motor can't take it, your problem. I'm fortunate though, knowing the guys there. They take the bus a few days before and check it over and let me know what is needed, which we then get done and bring it back. The test then goes fairly trouble free through. I couldn't face doing it every 12 months though, so for 2 years, its worth it!
