cabin filter, how to replace?

Hi all, I just bought a 1993 t4, the 2.5 auto gl version. After months of searching for a 2.4 diesel I gave up and got this one. There aren't many here in canada.

Anyways I have taken on to doing the 1st set of basic maitnance but I ran into a problem.

I can't find the cabin filter. The van has been used a lot off-road as it been in the country
and from what I noticed so far it needs to be replaced. I took the glove box out as that's where I usually find it but nothing, I don't want to start ripping the thing apart, so I figure I ask here 1st.

check with local VWG whether your van has one, mine is a 95, there is no filter fitted after searching like yourself:ILU:

I had a quick look on Elsawin and it I think it should be in the engine bay, on one side, behing a cover.

Yep if it's there then above the battery, big black platic cover with a mesh in the top. release the 2 spring clips then remove the cover. Big round filter in there

Thanks everyone, I will have a look asap.

I'm glad i did not go deeper into the dash. I blew the fuse when the two wires for the glove box light made contact, eeek. Now I know how to reset my stereo from the safe mode.
