It's to remind you not to safe lock it with anyone inside as they won't be able to get out, Safe Lock disables the interior handles.

 

Yes, mine does it as well, didn`t stop me leaving my jacket outside on the grass with the keys in it, thirty seconds later click click click and I`m locked in. Fortunately I still had manual window winders so made an undignified exit. Next time I locked my jacket inside with the keys in the pocket, that was more inconvenient, had to cadge a lift home to get the spare keys.

 

New van owner here so please excuse if its a daft question but how would you lock it so that an occupant could get out? Eg if you were sleeping in it.

Or use the locking button on the inside of the driver's door - it only single-locks the doors and does not engage the deadlocks.

 

Whilst we're on the subject of dead locks, I'm having a particularly annoying fault with mine, I lock it, then dead lock it with key, and you hear deadlock engage all around on this second push for dead locks, but the drivers door unlocks? It's only when I unlock and do same procedure again that the drivers door deadlocks!?

 

First push deadlocks it, second push releases the deadlocks & then leaves it locked.

That's the way it should work.
