I would really like to be able to do diagnostics on vans for a couple of reasons..... Firstly I am starting a workshop group in my area so it would be brilliant to be able to have it there for people who need it.
Also I my thermo top hasn't been working and I read this
The factory fitted Thermotop C'S are part of the multivan loom, and the fuse is in the auxillary panel. (i cant remember which one, but i can check for you if you need).
If youre heater isnt working, then you need to hook up VCDS, and check for faults in module 18, it will probably be locked out!, this needs to be re-set with VCDS.
These heaters will lock out after three failed firing attemps, usually caused by lack of fuel.
And this......
If VCDS Module 18 shows 'HEATER LOCKOUT'. then you can clear it.
Basically the fuel pickup in the tank could be lower, and if the ambient temp is below 11 degrees then the heater will go through the firing sequence. so if youre fuel tank is very low, and low over a 3 day period, then it will lock out.
In VCDS control module 18, you need to go to adaption and insert a (1) in block 003, then clear faults.
Can take a couple of attempts to make it stick.
So would like to be able to do this myself.
