Hi mine has started doing this recently but with a warning light. I think it must be oil level light but I don't have a manual yet. It doesn't stay on long and the oil is fine.

That sounds like possible oil pressure then... or maybe a duff sensor.


All levels are fine, no warning and van runs ok. So it's not normal, we know that now lol

 

I don't know what the problem could be, but there really shouldn't be beeping as that indicates there is a problem, I've only had that happen to me once when I had a mk3 golf and my oil pump was up the swanny. So, in my experience a loud beep is telling you not to drive your vehicle and get it checked out

Hi Tom :ILU: Could be the brakepad warning ! I've got a broken wire in mine and I'm damned if I can find it, so it's been doing that for 4 years now ! My MOT tester has started asking me if I've fixed it before he does the test !
It could also be an old hands free kit ? Mine beeps just after starting and when the ignition turns off. Not every time, but usually, there's a dodgy joint on that too. So could be you have something similar, which maybe you didn't realise you had ?
Normally any "beep" warning which is a VW item, will be accompanied by a warning lamp, assuming the lamp's not broken.

Brakepads on mine too accompanied by the beeeeeppppp... the wires were broken when the pads were being checked for the MOT , not an issue last time round but will be this time,need to see how to stop the beeeeeppp... whether its a case of joining up the return wire to the feed , or whether I`ll need new pads by the time the MOT comes round

 

Yep, brake pad warning light. Mine does it too, the wires on the off side rear and near side front have both been cut back well under the van and I cannot be bothered to trace it.
Come the Summer don't dash warning lights become part of the MOT though? If so I got me a deadline.....

Mine has done it since I brought it. No warning lights showing. It is a pain,but not the end of the world. One day I might work out what's causing it:*

Does it beep when it first illuminates?

My van beeps everytime I turn the ignition on as the fuel guage rises from 'empty' to the fuel level it's at. When the level gets low enough for the light to come on it is accompanied with a Beeeeep!

2002 2.5 Tdi 888 (not so) special.

mine does it and the abs light is intermittent and when it does come on is really quick its finally been put down to the float in the brake fluid, it does not do it when parked on the level and in the warm, must take after me and not like the cold!!!

 

Mine does it as well, I have been told that its a faulty sensor found under the bonnet to tell you that the bonnet is open???

 

I don't know about the van dashboard as mine has the computermabob that gives written information, but mine beeps when the ignition is turned on when the service interval is due. Nice to see you back btw Tom T:

 

Mines not that flash lol. Yours sounds more like my golfs dash but the T4 one doesn't have a written display (other than ODO and clock) That bit in the middle is just...... black....



Back to the beeping, none of the lights e.g. brake warning, ABS (it doesnt have ABS i dont think) or anything come on. I wondered if was service related but i thought the word inspection would come up in the odometer display?

Dubflecta you could be onto something here as that sensor looks aftermarket and pretty knackered on mine... might try replacing it anyway along with the driver and passenger doors as they dont work either so no interior light unless I open back doors (or turn it on)


Fatboy (sounds rich coming from me ha ha) it does indeed happen as soon as lights come on in fact, fuel, oil and coolant all come on simultaneously for a split second then go off and the beep occurs at the same time... it's not possible that my oil, coolant and fuel sensors are all broke is it? lol

 

Yep service interval whilst spelling it out for me, I reckon it must think I'm thick. Then on top of that water fluid level and immobiliser warning, have to make sure I have fuel as it'll be making a right racket and telling me off
