So noticed a little clunk clunk coming from the drivers wheel arch when i was driving at the weekend. Thought possible ball joints or bearings?? alot and i mean ALOT of noise this morning on the way to work. Got the Lads next door to put her up on the ramps. The drivers side drive shaft has alot of play in where it goes to the wheel..... GREAT! everything else seems fine.
Just phoned the garage and they quoted my £250 approx to fix it
guy bored me with details of variation on the problem so i said i would get back to him. Jut looked through some threads and it seems you can get a drive shaft for £50 brand new.
Question is, would there be anything else i need to by with it? Bearing kit etc? One of the guys next door (army mechanic) has said he will have a go at doing it if i get the parts etc, he has only ever worked on army landrovers but assures me it cant be much different lol.
Anybody give advice on what parts i will need?? and how much of a job is it to do? :*
Also if he cant do it and i need to take it to a garage (3miles away) will it be ok to drive or should i trailer it? Think i know the answer to this one already
