I am having trouble with my 06 T5 2.5 LWB. It started with the hazards flashing at random times , this while van stationary and on the move. It has now started to sound horn when i indicate and turn.

Also the rear window heater comes on. Any suggestions??

I also have the same problem, I posted this before Xmas but had no replies.
Mine has also caused problems with the wipers and inside light as well as indicators (not only the hazards)
I am looking at replacing the control module that is under the steering column but at ÂŁ360ish I would like to make sure first.
I would like to check the supply and earth to this module as my faults are from more that one of the systems that this controls.
I will share anything that I find.

I am having the same problem. posted on here and only reply was to check wiring under dash for breaks incase of shorting out.
have also checked the wiring under the front seat to the comfort module and that's ok. cant drive it as the horn is constantly on and hazards do there own thing. cant even find anybody who wants to come look at it.
need affix asap as unable to work till its fixed!!!

This problem may be caused by a low or flat battery. To stop the horn from beeping, whilst driving, try turning on the wipers,2nd or 3rd speed, take the van out for a 30 min drive,on fast roads, this will get the battery powered up and to test it out turn on an indicator. If it indicates this will hopefully mean the beeping will have stopped when you turn off the wipers. This happens to my t5 when not been run for a few days.

i recently took my van to VW big mistake i had all the same faults after they fixed the wet boot syndrome at a vast cost which i didn't ask them to do, but even that didn't cure the hazard lights horn and indicators, plus wipers going nuts, i'd had the CCU changed under the seat back at the beginning of the year (the reason i took it to VW for warranty testing), turns out it was the CCU either, in my case it turns out it was something called the central electrics (boardnetz) unit.

If you need this replaced as the other stuff hasn't worked then sit down as VW will charge you ÂŁ640 fitted!!! for me this side of Christmas is stupid money, but as i use my van every day it needs to be sorted and being sign written i get some silly looks sat at the traffic lights with my van going nuts and honking at the people sat in front of me at the red light.

If that was done to cure the problems you mention, it is a completely irrational choice by the VW dealer. They, of all people, should know that the Comfort Control Module (what you call the CCU) does not control the wipers, horn and indicators/hazards. They should be fully aware that those circuits are all controlled by the main BCM - J519.

As far as I'm aware the only functions that the Comfort Control module serves on a pre-facelift are the door locking/control functions.

So - you ~should~ be able to make a case that the dealer replaced the wrong part under warranty, and that they should treat the continuing problems as part of the same fault.

Failing that, a secondhand J519 may be your only realistic option...

I am now experiencing similar problems to the original post. Van being looked at tomorrow - will post the findings and (hopefully) the solution to the following:

(All of the following can happen when the fault intermittently occurs)

Hazards may turn on once van unlocked but ignition not on
Horn sounds when indicating left/right
Wipers only work on first setting and on screenwash firing
Wipers go on full speed when in reverse. Cabin light comes on briefly once out of reverse gear.

2004 1.9 diesel SWB

First thing to do is clean out all the crud that has fallen into the indicator stalk over the years. On older vans you may even have to fit a new stalk as they can get badly corroded.

Just to add another van doing the same, I occasionally get
the hazards flashing after unlocking and opening a door
horn sounds when indicators on (fuse removed just now)
when indicators used, heated rear window turns on, if this is turned off indicators flash - BUT
if HRW is on, use of the opposite indicators will turn it off again
when reverse gear selected wipers come on at high speed

Once the van is warm after about 15 miles all problems vanish

Will check cold battery voltage (thanks Dragon) and report back

Today I started getting these symptoms - hazard lights flashing for no apparent reason while van parked. Hitting the hazard light switch would turn them off but 10 minutes later they would come on again. Eventually found this thread, started the van to charge battery and problem appears to have gone away. Hoping it was just a low battery.

I have exactly this. Hazard lights start flashing randomly when parked. Get into the van, press the hazard light button and they stop flashing. Then they start again.

I have a 09 Transporter SWB which had hazards flashing when parked usually a day or two after heavy rain if the van hadn’t moved, hazards wouldn’t knock off & if they did only briefly.Driving the van while in this state the horn would beep when indicating to my embarrassment. After 5 mins driving usually corrected itself.Had it checked out twice by mobile auto electrian but no fault found.Eventual got a local garage to diagnose problem which turned out to be Body control module which was replaced successfully. This intermittent problem when on for more than a year before rectified.
Hope this helps anyone with similar issues

I spent a long time trying to find a solution for similar problems on my 07 T5 transporter. Windscreen wipers had been dodgy for a while, then I had the hazards lights going on randomly when the car was parked. The horn going off whilst driving for the first few minutes was annoying to me and to other road users. Fault was intermittent so I tried living with it.
Ultimately I looked at things on here and got the BCM J519 removed which is a 10 minute job and sent it off to autoelectron on ebay. Fault was repaired and unit returned in 3 days. A really good value for money repair and no need to reprogramme or be ripped off by dealers. Thanks for the help on here.
