Hi all I desperately need some hidden trim clips.
Does anybody within travelling distance of Cheshire have any spare that I could buy from you?
Thought I had another bag but can't seem to find them..
Need about 35 ish ideally.
Please help..:)

I originally had 75 which has done all the panels except one rear door panel and the roof panels.
I reckon around a hundred clips should do for a SWB Barn door T5.
If you order 125 you should be good..

I'm now wondering which clips I need for attaching side panels.

I know this has been covered loads but ive read conflicting answers.
The MVM panel clips and a few threads from searching say the hidden trim clips are suitable for 4mm (or less) ply.

My ply is 6mm.
I have seen other posts saying the hidden clips were fine and others saying they wont fit?

Is there a definitive answer as to which hidden clips can be used with 6mm ply for side panels?

Thanks
Jason

The clips MVM supply are designed to work with 4mm however you can get away with them on 6 you will just find them really difficult to twist so use a pari of pliers or you will shred your hands to pieces - learnt this from experience.

Other have counter sunk the hole slightly to make it easier.

It's a 9mm Hole.

You will need approximately 100 to do all panels (excluding ceiling) within a SWB van.

I'm told longer clips are required for the ceiling, i haven't got round to doing my ceiling yet so can't comment but have got 25 of the longer ones in preparation.

The cheaper clips on e-bay are made off a much harder plastic and slightly shorter and break very easily. I have used both types and would recommend only the ones from Megavan mats. You can remove and re-fit the Ply panels using these as often as you like with a trim tool.

I am in the process of sound deadening and insulating my T5. I have cut my ply panels including roof from 5.5mm ply and want to use hidden clips. (Before I found out they are meant for thinner panels) From the looks of things I will need to countersink to get down to about 4mm for the hidden clips. I have ordered some from Ebay (very cheap at ÂŁ3.59 for 50) I am not expecting them to be brilliant at the price. Plan is to fit some panels with these clips to see if they hold. This is only to try out to see if it works before I get the lining carpet. If it works I will order the clips from the trim suppliers when I get the lining materials.

My own thoughts on using ply rather than original panels is that the originals are just hardboard around 3mm thick with a thin skin covering. This can split easily and goes soft and crumbly if it gets too wet. I do load awkward shaped things in my kombi and would not want to split a carpeted hardboard panel by accident. The ply will take a bit more knock. I am sure others will have better reasons than mine.

Just used the eBay cheap ones.....waited weeks for them from China, they are cheap for a reason, I have found that the head is not strong enough especially on the side panels they just pop off, so all that waiting was in vein, I then brought some others from eBay form another seller who posted for the weekend as I was desperate to finish this job, and these arrived yesterday, but they are are only 7mm in diameter, and just pull straight out of the hole and do not hold... so I am off to MVM now and will try some of theirs. all in all will have spent circa ÂŁ50 on clips.....

I did mine at the weekend, with 6mm ply, with MVM clips.

I had already bought the 6mm ply when I read about the clips preferring 4mm ply.

I initially had 9mm holes and the clips were very difficult to fit, even with pliers.
So i drilled the holes out to 10mm and added a slight countersunk.
The clips then fitted, although still a little tight.

The panels are now mounted and are secure, so maybe not ideal, but it is possible with 6mm ply.
