My latest project is just about up and running but after a quick test drive down the street it seemed the brakes were binding on press the brake and the pedal stays down with brakes applied lift pedal brakes off.

Now after a little search i could have hill hold!!!!!

If so how does it work???? Got no manual or drivers hand book.

Cheers Paul

When you put your foot reasonably firmly on the brake, it holds the handbrake on for about 2 seconds, so you can let the clutch out, even though you havent touched the handbrake.
Park on a slope. Foot on brake. When you lift off, it will hold for a second or 2 and then release. It feels like the brakes are sticking on.

Is there anyway to tell if I have this feature or not apart from
Doing what you said??

I have an issue where when you press the brake pedal the pedal seems to be sticking down and not returning.
Not sure if this is related to the hill hold or not, vehicle has been in a bump so something could be faulty
Just trying to eliminate possible options!!!!!

Is there a on/ off button for the hill hold?

I realized that after posting it last night. I double checked it against the label files on VCDS and they're all there and no longer downloadable from ross tech. Was looking at doing some research into whether the hold that comes on for a couple of seconds when pulling away can be made to function like the auto hold on other cars? It will hold the car until you try and pull away, can sit at traffic lights in our tiguan without holding the brakes, hand brake or even riding the clutch. Makes driving that little bit more simple.

I think by design it is only intended for Hill starts, but if you read the following thread:

The speculation is that elkmac was holding the van on the handbrake and not the footbrake, and if you do that it seems that Hill Hold keeps the brakes on indefinitely. Unfortunately elkmac never came back to say whether this was correct, and I've never bothered to test it (because I don't really value Hill Hold as a feature that much).
