Hi,

Fitted my caravelle lights and wanted to do the wiring MOD, followed the instructions on removing the Air Bag from Elsawin with screwdriver but nothing is releasing :( Am I missing something obvious????

Hi
If ya get a little mirror and look into the holes on the back of the wheel you will see part of the spring clip, if ya put a small screwdriver under it and flick it up the clip should release, it might take a couple of goes on the first one but youll soon get the hang of it, then just do the same on the other side, a mistake I made was to turn the ignition on with the airbag unpluged, it makes the warning light stay on, so if you need to switch on, plug the airbag back in first T:T:

The clip pushes towards the column, they are very tight. Imagine the steering wheel at 90 degrees, insert the screwdriver above the clip and force the handle upward to push the clip down, then rotate the steering wheel 180 trying not to re engage the clip you've just undone and repeat.

Glad I replaced my wheel for the newer type, so much easier to release!!!!

Well thanks everyone drivers air bag came off easily today, no -one said I needed an M12 bit to get the steering wheel off :D luckily someone else working had one in their toolbox. Cut the relevant wires, went to solder them and s:* my soldering iron wouldn't work the B:*d and no-one had one. Crimped the wires instead mains work, sides don't  I will put that in another thread!!!!

Hi,

Any way to get the airbag light off? I've had mine working fine for ages but blew a fuse the other day and while trying to find which one it was have obviously done the airbag fuse with the ignition on, now it's on all the time. The fuse I blew was the one for the internal lights so can't have done anything to the airbag!

Thanks
