Hello

I have just bought a Dometic CF18 compressor cool box with a 12v lead that I intend to fit into units of my T5 (with suitable ventilation). I want to be able to plug in into Mains hook up and Dometic sell a mains adapter which costs about £60

https://www.dometic.com/en-gb/ae/pr...roducts/food-and-beverage/coolers/accessories/dometic-coolpower-eps-100-_-64047

There are many cheaper options available e.g. Halfords for £15

https://www.halfords.com/camping-le...mping-leisure/camping/coolboxes/halfords-coolbox-mains-to-12v-accessory-adaptor

is there a reason I should buy the Dometic ??

thanks in advance

Have you got a leisure battery with a power supply which charges it on mains hook up? If so just run it straight off the leisure battery & forget about a mains adaptor.

To answer the first question, You don't need to get the Domestic/Waeco specific 240V-12V adapter. I didn't use that Halfords one, but I used one which cost around £20 (can't recall where I bought it from)

To answer another question of "why you need one?". Well you don't if you are using in a van, just run it off 12V no matter if hooked up or not.

I bought the adapter so I could bring in my coolbox (a Waeco CF26 I think?) into the house and use it inside over Christmas.
