Maybe! I always wanted a full size bed in the back with a lounge type interior but the van came with the 1.1m RIB and furniture already fitted.

Just got an itch to buy a LWB and fit a Ply Guys lounge setup with pull outs, full width bed and stuff. 🤷‍♀️
Drop me a message and we can swap my LWB for your SWB for a bit haha!

Be strong! 💪...needs a dowel to drop the wheel on, if it ever slipped off that centre ring while removing/replacing then its gonna hurt thats for sure .
I broke my index finger this year moving my vans OEM alloys about in my workshop. I dropped one from about a foot and it bounced back and smacked the end of my finger. If i dropped it from that high i would run!

Orion, that is a very impressive build! Mine is very much in it's infancy. Seeing as your looks right with 255/55/18 I think I should be safe enough going 255/65/17, it's only 1/2" bigger overall diameter.

I'm still not sure about 4motion Vs non-4mo lift kits. I'll contact a few suppliers and see what the crack is.

Thanks for replying to my first post and pointing me to your build. I'll read it thoroughly when I get the time.

Cheers

Thanks Jim, fingers crossed you get the correct lift kit. I have seen lifted 4motions so they are out there.

I know this is an old thread, but MAN! What a great job doing all the stuff and also write it all up. Thanks a lot. I'm planning on buying an 8-seater SWB in New Zealand and doing just a basic 'camper', i.e. toilet, RIB seat/bed, table and cooler box for day trips. Initially ...
Hi and welcome! Thanks for reading through the thread, hope it was useful.

Might be an older thread but the job is never finished! :p

There are a couple of folk on here from N.Z with vans in varying levels of project.

What a great place to live and have a campervan! (y)

Well, I finally got around to fitting a swivel base on the front bench seat!

I held off for a while as I was considering swapping to 2 x captains seats in VW Simora fabric to match the rear Rib seat / bed.

Unfortunately as we all know VW single captains seats are still insanely priced. Nearly £2K for the pair I wanted.

So back to keeping the bench seat and adding a swivel base.

I wanted the rear extending style like MS Craft so the bench could reach the table.

Found a good used one on eBay and after some fun and games squashing down all the electrics got it fitted.

Quality bit of kit, nearly had a hernia trying to lift it!

Works really well. I like how the bench seat can swivel so you can sit with a brew looking out of the sliding door.

nice bit of kit those we were looking at one for our single but they dont make one shame really
It's certainly well engineered, weighed a ton!

Problem is that my towbar module is now dead, nothing at the towbar end. No CANBUS signal to the module.

And I was ultra careful packing the electrics / fuses and the towbar module into the under seat recess in the van floor....

Checked the wiring, all seems OK but I have obviously done something.

The tow bar worked a few weeks ago when I towed my daughter's Teardrop caraven.

Time to call Daryl the mobile Auto Sparky again ( he sorted the towbar electrics out last time ).

And then remove the seat and base for him to access it all again. What fun.

I have ticked off a few more jobs from the To Do List so thought I would update the build thread:

Fit new inner door seal to Drivers side

Fitted the new seal to the drivers door. Not as easy a job as I had hoped, quite a bit of trim needs prising off and also the plastic step which was awkward as it has the diesel heater inlet fitted.

Anyway all done and much better as the old seal was really worn out.

Remap

The remap is booked in for Thursday 23-03-2023. It's at Motion Motorsport in Stoke On Trent.

Will be the usual map from 140 to 180. Looking forward to the drive back...!

Transporter HQ smoked sequential rear lights

Got a discount code off eBay so treated myself to a set of T.H.Q LED rear lights. Went for the new T6.1 smoked style with sequential indicators.

New drive away air awning.

Picked up an ex-demo Outdoor Revolution Cayman Combo Air Low for a great price again with an extra discount code from eBay at the time on camping gear.

Just needs a clean and was missing the ceiling rod which I picked up off the Bay for £24. Bargain.

I really wanted a forward facing awning rather then sideways like my last Vango and the front and rear entrances with the large porches are brilliant on this .

Also fitted a new internal LED 12v strip light above the sliding door. I have a light in the pop top roof and under the cupboards but really needed an access light.

Nice and bright and It's switched rather the van door activating it which I preferred as we have the door open a lot on site.

Bought a little 20W solar panel to sit on the dash for trickle charging the main van battery. Came with lots of leads and a basic controller. For £60 you can't go wrong.

Spot the "Van Cat".

Next jobs on the list:

Beatnik decals to rear quarters and lower tailgate

New leisure battery ( original is worn out )

Passenger seat swivel plate (MC Craft )

Think that might be it but I guess there is always something to spend on....
The smoked tail lights, were they plug and play? Or did they need re-pinning?

Did your double seat have these fuse blocks and wiring looms?

How did you get around it with this swivel plate?

Well, sadly it's the end of my beloved Swamper build as the van is now sold and has gone to great new owners local to me who loved it when they viewed it.

I know they will look after it and have some fantastic family adventures.

They might even post them on here!

Thanks all for reading and commentating on this thread over the last few years, here's to the next one! (y)

Yep, empty van = clean slate

The interior of mine was so nice with the RIB bed and Camperworx furniture it was so much easier to pass it on and start afresh.

I'm really sad but also really excited to soon have a new interior to start planning.
