Hi,

Looking for a little help.

The side door started to 'hiccup' during closing, starting to close and then jerking back open again..

Now the upper dash button flashes or stays constantly lit when the vehicle is in motion.

The door will auto open from internal door handle or outside door handle - but it won't close. Likewise it opens from keyfob, but won't close.

You can close it from the cab by keeping the button pressed constantly.

I haven't found much info on the internet, but believe it could be a sensor in the lower door seal?

Can this be repaired, can it be tested for operation?

I have VCDS and have the following fault codes:
2 Faults Found:

02356 - Data Transfer to Sliding Door
012-Electrical Fault in Circuit - Intermittent
02366-Pinch Protection
011-Open Circuit

Any pointers, any fault finding procedures, anything to help me to understand what needs to be repaired/ replaced would be very welcome indeed 🙏

Best regards

I dont know anything about these, my Van came with them when new but they were taken out by the first owner in 09, however I would start looking at dirt or debris in the tracks as its coming up with pinch protection so it may be overloading the expected resistance when closing the door, just a guess

I suspect that the most worrying fault code may be 02356 - there is a contactless data transfer pickup at the top of the door and if that has a fault then AFAIK the door simply won't operate. IIRC the pinch sensor is built into the front part of the door seal. It's probably not easily repairable and would have to be replaced, though you can probably wire around it (with care) for testing purposes.

This will likely be the door pinch sensor. I had a similar issue with one of my doors. I'd totally forgotten that I'd repaired mine and made a little explanatory video Here (but forgot to video the actual fix, which is breaking into the door rubber and re-affixing the wires to the strip (or, I guess you can replace the strip, but it was ÂŁ60 2 years ago))
My other door appears to work fine, but I have the flashing switch light and your post has made me think that perhaps it has the same issue, so I'll be checking that ASAP.

I had same problem on my 2009 t5 kombi. it was the door pinch strip .it had broken the green wire inside the rubber about 3 inches from the bottom . I tried to solder it first but the solder would not stick to the wire so it used a strip connector and some high temp black gasket glue to repair where I had cut into the rubber to expose the wire . works a treat and you can't see the repair .
