I did have the option to get the active rail system fitted at the same time I got my poptop added, I knew I wanted them but thought I do it at a later date (ran out of ££ you see) Was lead to believe that they could be fitted after but now looks like I may have to drill

 

Hi I have active rails on my reimo pop top

Easy fitting: drill through roof and bolt through with sika sealant

The nuts on the inside of roof have plastic caps fitted for aesthetics,

Oh I have the Sw campers roof bars, look good, but £££ and whistle like hell when driving!!

 

Aw, that's a pity. If you have them pre-fitted, the fasteners are all hidden under the internal lining.

I'm afraid you are definitely going to have to drill the roof now. The Activrail usually comes as 4 pieces about 400mm long which they fix to the roof front and back on both sides. I had my roof done as a special order with full length rails as I wanted to be able to space the Sherpas Combi-Translift cross bars at different distances to accommodate snowboards (760mm gap) and surfboards (about 1500mm gap). If you are unsure, try contacting Johnny at Dirty Weekender Adventure Vans in Worcester. He's a very helpful guy T: Tell him I sent you if you do.

 

These are 2 metre Aktiv Rails we fitted to a LWB.

Mark out holes , drill roof, (best to have someone in the van with a bit of wood against roof lining, to stop drill snagging lining)
silicone to roof rails, fit bolts , job done T:

It sounds like hey are best fit at conversion, but wondering if we could fit them ourselves before converting.

would they take a roof box???

Usually whenI go to France for the whole summer and camp we need a roof box on a car, and as we're taking 3 kids with us this year. which means 5 bikes ... space will be tight inside. So ... want to fit racks which will take my roof box ...
Do you think these will do the trick?
I know you need to be careful with weight on a pop top
