Mine is exactly the same on a feb 2009 t28 my mates is a 2009 and his is the same also. Very puzzling.

 

Seem to remember reading somewhere that it was just a cost cutting measure, and the wire IS in the loom somewhere, just needs extending/ connecting and bulb fitting

There is a bulb in the light cluster

the regulations only require an ofside rear fog light.vw on all models only connect the offside foglight.

Yup - that's the rule in UK.

 

The bulb is there, the lamp is complete to the plug,

but no pin at the lamp nor wire from lamp to loom,

sure would appreciate knowing what/where that loom wire is?

as a bye the way, if two fitted, do they have to match?:*

 

VW T5.1 2013 - can I just run a cable from the offside light to the nearside light or will this confuse the system?

 

I have a 2005 t5 only the offside rear foglight also works I think they are all like it

 

There's a thread on here somewhere explaining all you need to know about wiring up the redundant rear fog-light. Unfortunately I can;t recall who posted it and don't have a link. Have a go with the search or better still use Google which often seems to find things easier on here.
