Sorry didn't see this. The Elgena KB3 can be fitted behind the toilet wall just above the water tank. It's a tight squeeze be can be done with everything fitting back in place, i used 2 small screws with caps to keep the little access hatch/tray in place as the Water heater can push it out a little. Mines a 240V heater (12V available too) so its wired into the socket in the bathroom cabinet. The hardest part was plumbing in the hot water feeds to the tap in the kitchen...lots of poking/prodding, swearing and a few snapped guide rods.

It's one thing I think Westfalia should of fitted as standard, 100% worth it.

New to me...Purchased off a member of the Forum.

2002, 3 Owner 102bhp, Air Con, Winter Pack, Cruise. Just needs a Leisure Battery and the Night heater to be fixed. Just spent our first camping holiday away in it and it's already proved much better than the T5 Bodans conversion it has replaced. The space for cooking if the weather is bad and the Wardrobe space is a bonus, but the toilet facility takes the top award for a small camper!

Will be adding a small Elgena KB3 (3L - 240V) water heater for hot water taps to bathroom and kitchen sink soon. And maybe raising the suspension back to standard from the Eibach lowered versions.

Morning Robert, we keep missing each other’s posts and replies.

thanks for getting back to me about the water heater. I still haven’t done anything about mine but really want to. Do you have any pictures anywhere of the installation?

I’ve only just seen the seat covers you’ve made, they look fantastic.

it’s a shames this thread doesn’t get used so often! When I first found it 10 years ago it had lots of owners commenting regularly! There’s some good info within the 88 pages

Have a good weekend

Well had a bit of fun at the weekend camping. The split charge controller decided to go up in smoke. Luckily I was in the camper at the time. I managed to disconnect it from electrics. Looks like two of the capacitors exploded. I've ordered a replacement from Fraron. So I decided to check out the wiring on the solar controller and PO used household cables so I'm going to replace that

I've seen so many of these go up in smoke. Technically it's not the split charge controller. That's just the charger that's gone up in smoke. There was a fella on another forum that was resoldering the common components that fail but I was the same as you and went for the Fraron unit. I've run that for about years now. The J7 bosch relay next to the charger is the split charge relay. If you haven't already, the Fraron unit has dual output so you can connect that to the input of the J7 relay and that will charge the starter battery too. The old unit didn't which I always thought was a bit of an oversight from Westfalia.

I'm just in the process now of swapping that for a DC-DC Victron Orion unit. It's a lot bigger but it should be better for the battery in the long run.

Finally decided that the hanging rail in the wardrobe was a luxury I didn’t need so I removed it and extended the two lower shelves.
I was lucky and found a 106cm piece of coated chipboard in the ikea ex display section for £2, cut it in half and it made exactly two shelves (wardrobe width on mine was 52.9cm wide).

I think I’ll use original lowest shelf as food storage leaving the two new shelves for clothes 😺

Great to catch up on what everybody has been doing to their vans.. Just swapped out the old gel battery with a lithium battery re routed the exisiting mains charger via the dc/dc and added a small 1kw inverter. About 4 days between charging versus 1 day! Looking for recommendations for some new front windscreen and door insulated blackout curtains?

what LiFePo4 did you go for ? re your question, just the internal insulated 'sucker on' screens do a good job on the blackout front, supplemented by an external 'Silver screen' or 'Taylormade' (TM) type for the cab for when the temps drop. last time I looked, you can get the internal ones in various qualities / thicknesses (no of layers) and price points, if you shop around.

Had an old roamer 200a/hr same size as the later 230 and fits in the slot under the cooker nicely. Don't use the lower bed so the inverter and dc/dc seat in the gap behind the rear seat. Have got some old silver screens with the suckers. But to be honest they were pretty **** let the daylight in. Heading up to Norway so was hoping for some better fitting magnetic ones ideally.
