Terminal 30 is just a generic term for an unswitched supply direct from the vehicle battery (i.e. not switched via the ignition).

First thing to suspect would be a blown fuse. But what symptoms are you getting and what was done to the van just before the symptoms started?

That depends what version of VCDS is being used. Older versions show a datestamp which does not relate in any meaningful way to the date the event happened.

 

Terminal 30 voltage supply relay is J317 (109) in the engine bay under the battery....

 

But if that were faulty you would get a lot more wrong than just a central locking problem.

 

I had similar code see previous post. In the end somebody working on van had pulled a fuse out. Check fuse panel for continuity and missing fuses

 

Relay 109 supplies power to the ecu so if it fail completely no glow plug light and van won't start. If it goes intermittent it can drop power to the ecu hence terminal 30 fault. All relays can fail in several ways - total failure to operate, normally open contacts fail to make or become high resistance, normally closed contacts can fail to open or go high resistance.

 

Well yes, but the OP has not yet said what his symptoms are. If the error message about power to the central locking module that he posted originally is the only fault present, then I doubt that it is ~any~ sort of failure of Relay 109.

 

Yes issue is only with central locking, basically the central lock does not work, press the remote button lights flash but nothing happens, this being the 5.1 doesn't have any wiring under the drivers seat.

Shortly before this fault one of the lads replaced the passenger seat, (which is now out again) could it be a wire under there if so which one?

ps. VDCS is brand new NET-HEX version

To be honest, this isn't the sort of thing that is going to get fixed by asking questions on a forum. It needs some investigation.

 

I would be grateful to hear what the problem was as today I have an indentical fault.

 

Part of the problem is that there are at least 4 variations of the central locking circuit diagram depending on model year - two of them differ radically. The OP's profile says he has a 2.5 but he says he has a 5.1, which never have 2.5l engines. If you make it so difficult to guess what van you have, you should not be surprised if people find it hard to help.

 

Most of this thread dates from four years ago so you may not get a reply from those involved.

I suspect you stand a better chance of getting a relevant answer on a forum for Skoda owners, rather than this one, which specialises in VW Transporters.
