Just watch how wide you go with awnings like this .
Pitch sizes vary massively but you hear 8mx5m banded around as a 'standard size which this set up takes you beyond that and this is without the guy ropes .

There are lots of people that use a similar set up but i think having something that sits alongside the length of your van to create more of a rectangular footprint as opposed to a T shape might lend itself more easily to the 'standard pitch' .

 

Any suggestions?

The thing I liked about that awning is that it has two big doors. You know what happens. You set up nicely, go for a wander and comeback to find someone has pitched right next to you and blocked your view. At least with the side entrance they can't do that

 

We use a canopy for ease of pitching.
Theres only 2 of us so we dont need a proper awning

I saw your thread on the F45. That does look like a good option. I've been using a £5 tarp from Wickes tied into the roof bolts and some tent poles but am looking for something with a bit of weather protection that I can cook in.

I have the Faros ii low, poled awning and I’m really happy with it so far, nothing to compare it to but used it for the first time last weekend and was easy to pitch up, a nice size and held well in pretty strong wind too.

Hi Chris, thank you for posting these photos. I’m looking to purchase this pole version myself. I have a C rail that I needed to cut a bit shorter (about 220cm in length now). Could you please tell me if there is much slack either end of your rail? Or is it possible to tighten it so the slack is minimal? Thanks I’m advance!

 

We stitched a kador bead to one edge and it just feeds into a hidden awning rail in the gutter of the van .

 

I ended up buying the Vango Faros II Low
Haven't tried it out yet. Have also fitted roof bars but no awning strip yet
