Which detachable towbar > Witter / Westfalia / Bosal?

Hi all,

I hope you are well and good.

I have decided that I am going to fit a detachable towbar to my T5.
My question is of these 3 which is the most discrete with the bar removed?

Witter - Apparently has folding electrics so I think this might be the one.
Westfalia - electrics look fixed to me but I love the rest of this kit and the fact I can get a boot tidy to store it.
Bosal - looks like the electrics might fold backwards but the literature does not say as much.

Does anyone have a Witter bar installed and are prepared to post a photo with tow ball attached / detached?

Cheers everyone.

This is the Westfalia removable option on my van. When the swan neck is removed, you can't see anything from the back, except the electrics socket.

Check with PF Jones (ebay and best priced generally for all towbars) whether you can get a folding electrics option, because you buy them separately.

Yes, of course the van is filthy :D

My Westafalia works fine with the parking sensors and doesn't cause any issues, I have the factory plug & play wiring on mine so not sure if that makes the difference?
I've got a spare that I'll be advertising that has the socket loom and parking sensor loom at ÂŁ175 for the lot if of interest.

The factory fitted version (and the Westfalia retrofitted "custom loom" version) should include coding that cuts the parking sensors when a trailer is plugged in - if it doesn't pick up the towball with no trailer connected, I guess your sensors must be slightly less sensitive than some.

Cheers Fellas!

I've still not committed to buying one yet but I reckon I'll grab the Witter, purely because nobody seems to have one which makes me curious. If it's rubbish, I can send it back for the Westfalia.

I had a Westfalia removable on my 320 Estate, it was a really nice bit of kit.

Floor has got to come first anyway, that's my weekend job, literally can't wait!

Jeez, wtf happened to photobucket!? It's like a spammy porno site with all those annoying adverts!

I couldn't find any photos of confirmed Witter bars on the internet so I wrote to Witter and they sent me some, I've had to exclude a couple because they have a number plate showing and I don't have the time right now to smudge it off.

Anyway, for those that are interested here they are:

Mine gets delivered tomorrow and I may fit at the weekend, if I do I'll post some photos.

Cheers!
