Last time it was just under the 100 bhp mark so wants to be over this time but I am sure my pump timing is out as it is hard to start without the cold start which I use every time regardless of the weather but as soon as its running its fine ? I have my intercoler down behind the bumper plenty of cold air in through the mk4 golf lower grill I fitted

are you going to advance the timing before you put it on the rollers T:

Update -

Boost Pipes

i've purchase some 2" Alloy pipe to make my own bespoke boost pipes, at present there is a mix of silicone hose and alloy pipe so i'm going to form my own. T:

i bought 5 metres but the supplier acidentally supplied (10 metres ) so if anybody needs some let me know.

going to borrow my friends 2" hydraulic pipe bender this week and make a start

also done some digging regarding my LDA and the 11mm boost pin, turns out its a Denso LDA fitted to these pumps uned on Yamaha Marine 6 cylinder engine

heres my pump

Denso and Zexel are copies made under licence of Bosch. If you buy a seal replacement kit for your pump it is identical to others apart from the top cover seal.

My mum was visiting here recently and she took my spare pump back with her in her lugguage, saved me on postage lol. It has now been sent to Bob for rebuilding and modifying :D

As for other turbo parts, the bloody Australian customs have it in their possesion and will not release my property until I have paid a broker $350 to clear them. All because I had car parts, ie turbo and manifolds mixed in with my personal effects. WA*KERS!

Think I will speak to rake and get some injectors sent at the same time as the pump T:

If I can get 120+ BHP from standard exhaust I'll be happy?

There is stacks of material to remove from the ports. As Brookster said, on the inlet side it's not crucial but it's still important on the exhaust side. You can't fill up until you've emptied. Also it will improve pick up off boost and the transition between. Don't forget to polish the ports accordingly.
Did you use the exhaust gaskets as a guide to porting or did you get it professionally done? What else have you done on the head?

Thanks for the help

advanced my pump timing yesterday and what a change its made the van starts first time without the cold start being used. it drives a lot smoother so well happy just got to see what it gets on the rollers next saturday

nice one how much did you have to advance it T:

i have modified the boost pipes which are now shorter and re-routed them , EGT's are lower i also increase the fuel which increased the power but the smoke off boost was abit too much so i've wound it back down to reduce the smoke.

The van drives great

We moved it at least 5 mill , but what we had it running only just but like a Harley ticking over then moved it till it ran right and left at that , so it's only just over the mark from not starting to starting
If u understand that lol

Original pipework had too many joints and too much silicone

the Original pipework here - messy

the intercooler has been flipped so the inlet are at the top now.

New intercooler pipework fitted , i did want to change it all to solid alloy but the pipe bender just creased the pipe as it was too thin in the walls.

don't think you can see on this photo but the pipework from the Turbo runs at low level just above the gearbox

ok took the Van for a full run out to work and back since doing the boost pipes and winding the fuel up

its pulling 1.2bar easily and the engines is running alot smoother since increasing the fuel , slight smoke off boost in the dark but ok in day light .

Runs so smooth now @ 70 mph and pulls to 90mph like a hot hatch :D

must be pushing out 150bhp minimum now. I:

Sounds great you must be well happy. next year I will get a spare pump that I have modded should help mine. Back on the rollers this Saturday well interested to see what it is putting out now
