Everything sounds like it should

it could be that the three wires you added for the MFD

Stalk------------------- Speedo

PIN 24 goes to pin 21 (MFA+)
Pin 23 goes to Pin 22 (MFA-)
Pin 18 Goes to Pin 23 (MFA-R)

is not connected to anything in the stalk (is there any pins in the stalk)
need to check for connection.

I did have those 3x wires connected from the stalk to the instruments and coded but still have the same response no MFD. Then someone told me if I had a MFSW I didn't. Need those wires so I have removed the 3x to the clocks but had no response after coding again?

Don't know if anyone has done that conversion any other way but the wiring diagram I looked at had the above wires from the MFD to the stalk.

My stalk does have MFD button on the end which I retro fitted same time as cruise.

I have the same BCM version as you and I can't get the rhs MFSW switches to work. I know the MFD works because I do have the call up switches on my wiper stalk and they work. Have tried with a wiper stalk with no call up switches, removed the three MFD wires and no difference, the RHS switches on the MFSW will not control the MFD for me. You have seen my other thread on this it has more info.

I don't know why its like this but suspect its a software problem with the BCM or instrument cluster. Could be a coincidence but the Polo uses the same BCM and it comes with a MFSW with switches on the LHS only.

if I get time tomorrow will check what's part numbers on the speedo and BCM.
did mine back in june so not fresh in the head.

thinking about it I did remove a wire on the MFSW harness because on the diagram it was not fitted
from the factory if the MFSW was used. only there for the horn on normal steering wheel.

see here post 4

http://www.vwt4forum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=290287

the other guy captain Beaky did not remove his and said all things were ok but don't know if his MFD works.

Ive just fitted a mfsw added two repair wires one to the bcm an one to live i now have illuminated buttons and radio controls but right hand buttons don't do anything my instrument cluster is part number 7E0920960A i did have fuel range enabled instead of outside temp but lost that fiddling with settings and cant find it now.

I know this is a bit of a thread resurrection, but, if you'll indulge me.

Just stumbled across this post whilst trying to add the trip stalk to my other half's 2011 Polo, looking at the ELSAWIN diagrams for the pinouts this is exactly the same (pins 18, 23 and 24 of T41, and 21, 22 and 23 of T32).

Can anyone tell me what repair wires I need to order so I get the right pin types on the ends of the cables?

Thanks.

Did you connect the three wires as stated above 18-21 23-22. 24-23. ? Only I thought it was

Still no mfd from rh buttons.
Instrument 7E0 920 960 A and central elec 7H0 937 087 B.
Extra wires fitted as per instructions (3 from clockspring to inst, 1 from clockspring to +12v live and 1 from clockspring to central elec.
All coding in vcds correct. Everything checked and treble checked. Still no mfd via this buttons on mfsw!!! Everything else works....!?!

There are three missing wires for the MFD that go from the

F138 - Airbag coil connector and return ring with slip ring (grey multiplug for stalks, ect ect)
to
J285 - Control unit in dash panel (speedo)

Stalk------------------- Speedo

PIN 24 goes to pin 21 (MFA+)
Pin 23 goes to Pin 22 (MFA-)
Pin 18 Goes to Pin 23 (MFA-R)

If fitting a MFSW (Multi Function Steering Wheel) also add

5amp live to pin 9 at the stalk
pin 10 goes to pin 17 (lin bus, white 73 pin connector onboard supply control unit)

Then you need to go into the instrument cluster with VCDS and enable Multi function display (I think its called that :) )

PLEASE DOULBLE CHECK THE PIN NUMBERS IN THE BIG GREY MULTIPLUG FOR THE STALKS**
There are spaces or blanks which look like holes for the pins and make you misread where the wires need to go..... so take care
I already have a black wire in No23 on the stalk side? Do I piggyback this?

Bit of a bump- did anyone ever get this working? I’m having the exact same issue. Passat 3C0 MFSW, CC installed without trip on stalks, RHS buttons not working. VCDS shows the buttons as active and registers their input- just no idea how to get them to speak to the dash?

Where are you? Bellman Automotive in Sheffield would be able to sort it. He fitted and coded some highline clocks for me about a year ago. He really, really knows his stuff.

Hi, thanks for the replies. My clocks are 7E0 920 960 A

Currently, VCDS shows this for central electrics:
Address 09: Cent. Elect. (J519) Labels:. 7H0-937-08x-09.clb
Part No SW: 7H0 937 087 B HW: 7H0 937 087 B

Subsystem 1 - Part No: 1K0 951 605 C
Component: LIN BACKUP HO H05 1501
Coding: 000000

Subsystem 2 - Part No SW: 3C8 959 537 D HW: 3C8 959 537 D
Component: E221__MFL-TK6 H07 0022
Serial number: xxxxxxx
Coding: E20000
Interestingly, 3C8 959 537 D is the left hand buttons. The right hand buttons are 3C8 959 537 G, VCDS shows that the MFSW controls for MFD+,-, Reset are working as the input bit changes in real time when I press them, showing that the vehicle knows the button inputs are related to the MFD, and that they work...

Could it be that I need to recode 3C8 959 537 D? Has anyone got a different coding showing for their switch module?

ok you have enabled the multifunction display also? and double checked the correct wires are in the correct pins easy to get wrong if all your wires are yellow repair wires.

Does your horn work?
Airbag light goes out?

there is two steering wheel wiring harness's for the MFSW one connects in the middle of the steering wheel the other is a black plug on one side of the buttons which do you have?

I would next check on the pins going through the slip ring.

making sure from the MFSW plug in the steering wheel they are making contact with the harness from the steering wheel.
is there a connection through your slipring?

Have you got the MFD button on the end of the stalk?
if you have, do not press this button when trying to get the mfsw buttons to work as it overides the signal
untill the vehicle is powered down and back up.
Hi, wonder if you could help me, ive just fitted MFSW flat bottom steering wheel to my T5.1 and buttons work and illuminate up but cant get horn to work or airbag light off as error showing as ignitor resistance low??

You’ll most likely need a different wiring look for the new steering wheel as the original doesn’t have the horn wired to the BCM, or wiring for the buttons. It then needs coding on VCDS to get the horn to work.
