I'll try and find the other one. Unless your going front mounted intercooler you will have to replace that one any way

Also not sure if you will but don't fit a atmospheric dump valve! They don't work on these engine and you will have all sorts of running issues. If upgrading go for something like the forge 007 diverter valve (I'm sure that's the ones we use to run when I had the golfs), they come with various springs of different tensions to suit what your running. If running an induction kit you will still get the sound of the wwooootttsshhhhh through the air filter just won't sound quite so Medway chav lol

Well after not hearing much for the last couple of weeks I went to go and see the mechanics yesterday. I would like to have seen them much further along with the work but apparently they were on holiday for a couple of weeks. So far, the old engine is out.... they say they have made new engine mounts and are in the middle of servicing the new engine and putting all new belts etc on it.

This is the old engine, you can see just how big the hole is that it blew out the side of it. The garage can't find any reason why this might have happened and have said what so many of my friends have said, normally these engines are really reliable!

Nah... its just I get so much abuse of Lee I cant tell when he is being nice or taking the whatsit. The van should be ready soon I would have though. I have had some extras done and to be honest he is taking his time (which we have had words about), the reality is though that I would always rather have a good job than a quick job and he has charged me very little compared to some other firms.

Yeah because you never do that Lee! :p

I still don't have it back yet. The mechanic has been fitting it in around his other work. It's due back soon though
Sorry Jon thought you had it back how long they had it. I got mine running last Sunday done the conversion in 5 weekends on my drive in the rain and cold final tidy up this weekend then test drive time can't wait

Holy how long  I would be going mad
Ouch you really are going for it I:

I feel for Jon and the length of time it's taking especially as it's not local that he can pop down once a week to have a look at the progress, however I know that Jon wanted a proper job done and if that meant it took time then he would accept that.
Jon has been a good egg through out the wait and taken lots off banter throughout (and given it back) the wait. Hopefully he will get a nice can back that is better then he expected and fault free T:

Watch the catch Lee?... your never that nice! Rasp:

I think the problem was I didn't use someone local who I can pester and keep tabs on. The thing was nobody local to me would do it unless they were charging twice what this guy is, and at twice the price... I wouldn't have put the van back on the road.

I know we all like a giggle and have a bit of banter but it not nice being led along for something that may or may not turn up on a date given. Even though its a cheap job a dead line is a dead line and he must have been happy with the price he gave. By the time it comes back summer may have finished and how can you plan to use a van for what it's intended if there is no completion date :*
