Well after doing a lot of camping with friends as 1 of them races a Classic Motor bike at Tonfanu we found that we couldn't fit every thing in our Zafira GSi as we always had our dog in the boot, we had 1 of the biggest Roof boxes aswell and we still struggled so the only option was a VW Van.
As my friend who races has a T4 me and the wife thought of buting a T4 but looking at them they were pretty rubbish for the money. So the wife spoke to some contacts at Vw Van centre's and we got our hands on a 57 plate 1 owner T5 for ÂŁ6400

Having spent a lot of money and time on my Zafira the wife new i wouldn't be happy with the T5 being standard so after owning the Van for 3 days i bought Rear seats, lowering springs, and some 19" X5 wheels.
I set about fitting the springs and wheels the following weekend

As we were to be going on holiday i wanted the T5 to look look half decent on the out side and it needed to be sorted on the inside with carpting so i set about fitting side windows, so a friend who fits screens for a living fitted me some side windows which the wife got through work as she works for Audi cost me ÂŁ190 in total the windows, tinting and fitting

After that i set about carpeting the rear of the van for my son and dog to travel in comfort.
So i bought some material off Ebay for ÂŁ50 for 10 meters and got the glue from B+Q, seeing as ive never done any thing like this before i found it fairly easy to do and it took me a whole day to do

I do miss the old girl, has it still got the Miltek fitted as I miss the noise it made.
I'll start a new thread when I've got a spare minute but nothing really to show yet as only had it a week and out of cash seeing as I bought a 2015 model but I'm working that much overtime to buy goodies for it

Still love it thanks, glad to hear you have bought another T5. Look forward to seeing the build thread! This thread is the reason I bought your old one :)

I have now fitted a bulk head behind the rear seats. I have had to therefore cut the centre plinth in two to fit it. I recovered it again and fitted a new white LED strip light round the edge. The van is now much quieter and the LED light comes on with the opening of the door.

Next up was the suspension. Whilst I loved the stance the van had, it was too low and hard a ride, and I occasionally need to tow a caravan, so I needed something more suitable, but still lowered. The coilovers were not in the best shape when they came off, and have been replaced by Bilstein shocks and 40mm H&R lowering springs from veedubmachine in cornwall.

So, Cavbow sold the van to Macka83 on here in early 2015 and then I bought it from Macka83 in December 2015. My first T5 and I absolutely love it. It was great to buy a van with the history laid out in this 13 pages thread!

I have swapped a few messages with Cavbow and he is happy for me to carry on this thread with work i have done, and will do, on the van.

First job I did was to change the centre plinth with the DVD player on. As Cavbow said earlier in the thread, using mdf did result in it warping, so it is now made of plywood. I recovered it, added the lights in and an LED strip around the edge that work off a remote and change colour.

Hoping these pictures show up ok!

My own reasoning behind it is that I've never been happy with the way it looked inside with them panels, they were screwed to the metal work and would squeak on the screws, I did it as a quick fix as I was going away in it as soon as I got it.
I think that now all the metal work has been done it seems more quieter and warmer
