I thought it was time I started my build thread with my new bus.
I've had it for around 3 months now and done quite a bit here and there.
I am doing a full camper conversion with it and hope to get it finished within the next 2 months.
I was looking at buying some vohringer boards and doing the lot myself but after mucho measuring, drawing and thinking I decided that I havn't got the right tools and know how to take on such a job so i've opted for the Ikea route instead.
Anyway here goes... This is pretty much how I got it apart from the wheels which went on straight away and some -60mm lowering springs.....
It's a 53 plate swb which I got for the lovely price of ÂŁ2100...
Not a bad starting motor and it's in really good nick and runs like a dream.
Next job was some side windows from VW and then tinted and fitted by myself...
After fitting the windows the whole interior ply panels, floor and carpet were stripped out of the back, Completely cleaned up and then the dreaded insulating could be done....
Got my self down to b&q and picked up some kingspan and a couple of rolls of silver thermal insulating roll that was buy 1 get 1 free T:
Once all that was done I got all the original ply panels carpeted and some nice flooring and got it all fitted up and fixed in position with all the required wiring hidden behind for later...
Next in line was a new pair of seats as I wanted 2 singles that were a bit more racier.
So the olds ones were out.
And I won a full interior for an MG ZR off Ebay for ÂŁ46. And another single seat base.
So after collecting these went in with not much problem at all and they are really comfortable and I think they look the nuts aswell...
Ok, so next job now is making a start on the interior. Went down to Ikea the other day to get everything I needed to get started, apart from the doors because they have to be ordered so they are on the way soon.
Got it all home after paying ÂŁ190 including doors and hinges and got it all made up..
Next I set about chopping it all up with a jigsaw to make it fit the van.
It's all starting to take place now.
Next steps are get a sink and hob in the units and finish the electrics before I secure it all in place and fit the doors.
More to come soon. Hope you like.... :ILU:
