Hi Guys

I have a 1998 T4 2.4D AAB engine, original cluster 7DO 919 900G (Speedo with digital milometer, Analogue clock to right, with faulty fuel & temp gauge to left), removed to re-solder, but wanted rev counter so purchased a 7DO 920 900B, which I understand is the correct one for mine. Unplugged original loom (2x blue connectors) from rear of fusebox and plugged in the new loom (2x blue connectors to the blue & green on the cluster). New cluster gives digital display of milometer & digital clock but no other displays or lights (no lights, indicators etc...) and no speedo, fuel gauge, temp gauge or rev counter.

Both the old and the new cluster has similar wiring to that of ADEMÜÇÜNCÜ's photos below.

Does anyone have any ideas why the above is not working, do I have to change the wiring/add additional wiring to the loom, there are several unused connectors on the new cluster so do some of these need wiring into the existing 2 blue connectors to enable the speedo, rev counter, fuel & temp gauge, indicator, warning lights etc....

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello I Have 1997 2.4 D AJA. New blue instrument cluster conversion.

Original new blue instrument cluster cable socket error :( does not work illiminator, rpm singal..buzzer error.

Hello, I have a 1.9 t4 ABL / 1997 and I want to put clocks tachometer with blue light as golf4, please tell me what to look for series of watches to match.
thank you!

Hi I'm new here.
last fall I got this 1996 2.5 tdi T4 it's a really great van and I'm having lots of fun with it.
Here is my problem. I moved to north of Finland and after a spell of good ol' minus 40 degree celsius my instrument cluster is not working right.
all the warning lights ie parking break, high beam, oil lamp and such work but not the dials.
Speedometer, tachometer, fuel gage, engine temp is Not working at all, I have the cluster shown in pic 2

I've checked the fuses and I've had the whole cluster out to look for connectors that may have come undone but no luck.
Any idea what to do next?
/Rasmus

Hi guys,
My van is AJT 1999 (last of the green clocks) and I have managed to get some blue dials and a loom.
Part number for the dials is 7D0 920 903B
I have connected the 2 main blue plugs and another and it appears something is not right.
I have no back lights, no rev counter but I do have lots of warning lights and beeping when I start the van.
Oil light is flashing, brake pad warning light on, Airbag light on etc
Have I done something wrong?
Also there are plenty of plugs left over with no obvious place to plug them in.
Any ideas people, please?

Are they T4 blue dials with FULL T4 loom from an AJT van. If not you have coding issues with the dials if they are from a golf etc. But I have never done this swap so can't really help if it's t4 stuff you have.

Yes it's a T4 loom and clocks from a T4 too.
I thought it was a reasonably easy swap.
Obviously missed something:*

Hello

7D0 920 903 B 140 MPH 05/00 - 04/01 AJT , ACV , AYC N Y N N N ( NO Can Bus ) He needs to work properly . There is a question of example..
I Have 1997 T4 2.D D AJA. My Friend 1998 2.5 TDI ACV. I did test both blue instrument cluster cars . same mistakes
:
1: No working rpm signal
2.blue background lighting no working
3.brake pads light
4. Oil pressure light ^^buzzer''
I Have test video ''' blue instrument cluster + blue instrument cluster cable '' 7D 0 920 802 Q 220 km / h 12/99 - 06/03 AJT , ACV , AYC , AYY
D0 920 802 Q 220 km / h 12/99 - 06/03 AJT , ACV , AYC , AYY

2. I have a 1.9D/TD (or 2.4D), can I just replace my cluster for one that has a rev counter?

Yes you can as long as the new cluster is from a 1.9TD or 2.4D. The tach. will not work if the new cluster came from a 2.5TDI as the engine speed signal for the 2.5TDI is generated by the ECU and is different to the signal on the 1.9D/TD (which is generated by the alternator).

3. I want the “blue clocks”, will any old 'blue-style' cluster fit my van?

No - As a rule only non CAN-based T4 clusters will work in a non-CAN vehicle. So, when looking for a blue style cluster to fit your van make sure the part number is one of those listed in the table below which does not have CAN. Again, if you have an older van (pre '95) you will need add a speed sensor to the gearbox as well as the harness which connects the fusebox to the cluster itself.

me again.
Thank you to Turkey for the reply but I'm sorry I don't quite understand your reply.
I have the Non Can bus clocks and loom (Part Number 7D0 971 051 AM) which I was informed is the correct part.
Can anyone confirm it is or give me a part number to look for.
Thanks in advance.

Advice / Help Needed

So I've been having problems with my 1995 Caravelle cluster and following a dealership problem solving I have been told the clusters ok but I need a new 20 pin plug as some of mine aren't functioning correctly.

It's not the circuit board that's the issue but the plug that goes in it.

I've been told that they have to buy the plug shell and then make each pin, I've been told it will take 3-4 hours and cost £457.

Their rationale is that it's not worth get a second hand one due to it being cut from the main loom and spending as long rejoining all the wires

Based in Kent - does this seem a reasonable price or anyone know anyone else who can solve / do it cheaper?

Thanks J

Hi, I have read through this entire thread but I have not been able to find the info I am after. I have an early t4 2.5 petrol caravelle. It has a motometer cluster part no. 701919035CN which is no longer working, I have tried the solder solution but it has not worked. At the start of the thread it says I might be able to replace it with one from a corrado but the ones I have found are all made by vdo. Are these interchangeable with mine? If not are any others?
Thanks, Marcus

Quick question in prep for changing my '98 2.4 AAB clocks over.

Are people using the full new loom from clocks to fuse box? My thinking was to cut the fuse box connections off the new loom and make a new single plug to connect to the old 28 pin connector that plugged into the back of the original cluster. I figure that this way the old cluster can be put back in if ever required?

Hopefully that makes sense and someone can advise me on if that's a sensible idea. T:

Sorry, to jump on the back of this post but I am quite desperate. I wander if someone would be able to help me with a problem replacing an instrument cluster.

Following on from my engine loom burning out, it appears that my instrument cluster is also damaged. The new loom is fitted and the van is now running.

My van is a 1998 2.5tdi acv engine. I have received a cluster from the breakers and my mechanic has plugged it in to test it. The millage and speedo light up but there are no indicator, ignition or parking lights working. The old clock's battery, parking and glow plug light did work. Everything else didn't!

The part number of the new clock is 7D0920902P which according to Penbryn's table comes from a petrol automatic nonCAN.

Would this clock work on an early 2.5tdi diesel?

My initial feeling is that it wouldn't have a glow plug light as the first problem and that it might be coded differently. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as my van has been off the road for over a month.

I know this is a old thread but wondering if anyone has fitted the corrado cluster to there t4 just bought some and want to know what work i need to do to make them work i know ill need to fit a new gearbox speed sensore as im still using a cable on but after that i dont know cheers
